FENNEL

Fennel is a hardy perennial that is native to the Mediterranean. It was prized by ancient Greeks and Romans as a useful medicine, food, and insect repellant. Fennel tea was also commonly given to warriors prior to battle as it was believed it would give them courage in battle. 

Practical Benefits and Uses​

• Antimicrobial- ​ In a glass spray bottle combine 1/2 cup vinegar, 1/2 cup distilled water and 20 drops of fennel oil. Allow to sit on surfaces 15 minutes before wiping away. Add complimentary oils if desired.
• Digestion- Combine 4 drops fennel oil and 1/2 Tbsp carrier oil in the palm of your hand. In a circular motion, rub over your lower abdomen post  meal.
• Hiccups- Combine 1/2 cups warm water with 2 drops fennel essential oil. Sip on this to relieve hiccups. Only ingest essential oils after consulting your physician or aromatherapist. Fennel is not safe to ingest if you are pregnant, nursing, have endometriosis, or an estrogen-related cancer.
• Skin Issues- Combine 5 drops fennel oil with 1/2 Tbsp  coconut oil. Massage over affected areas.
• Weight Management- Add 2 drops to a jewelry diffuser or inhale directly from the bottle to reduce food cravings.
• Wounds- Fill a small bowl with warm water and 8 drops fennel oil. Wash wound with this blend. Add 2 drops to a gauze pad and secure over wound.

Can Be Used for

• Aromatherapy diffuser- Add 10 drops to a diffuser. Add complimentary oils if desired.
• In a bath- 5 drops essential oil, 1 Tbsp carrier oil, 4 oz Epsom salts. Combine first, then add to running water.
• In massage oil blend- Always test on an insensitive area for skin sensitivity. Add essential oil to preferred carrier oil.
